| "For sale: baby shoes, never worn." -Ernest Hemingway In just six words, a story creates itself. I really like this flash fiction because it's the only one that's ever made an emotional impact on me. You could think of this story in a lot of different ways. I thought of it as a family who was preparing to welcome home a new sibling, but the baby was stillborn. I just thought this was worth sharing. Feel free to say your take on the story. | |

| What I thought was that the mother of the family was pregnant. I also thought that the mother lived by herself because her husband was assassinated (I don't know how I thought of that).- What I thought the story could have been:
It has been a year since she had found out that her baby was in her stomach. Ten months before, the father had been assassinated by a serial killer, leaving the mother with her not yet born baby.
The mother went to the hospital to see why her baby hasn't born yet. The doctor did a lot of tests on the baby. After the tests, the doctor saw horrible results. The doctor couldn't tell the mother the bad news yet because he (lets make the doctor a boy) wanted to do more tests just to see if the results were correct or wrong. After one to two weeks of testing, the doctor couldn't deny the fact that the baby was already dead. He told the mother that the baby had died after two months since it grew inside the mother's womb. The mother became devastated. She went home and looked at the pair of shoes that she had bought for her child that stood still on a mini box that was decorated with cheery colors for a year... She cried... and cried... and cried... The shoes that she had bought for her baby would never be worn. Since she couldn't give birth to the baby, she would be forever alone with no one to be by her side, with no one to love.

| I've never heard of flash fiction before, and it looks interesting so thanks for sharing this! this story makes me think of a couple (or woman) who was/were really looking forward to have a baby, but the woman had infertility problems. either that or the baby died in the womb. | |
