gonna be a 9th-grader/fresh meat in september. tbh i'm not so worried about starting high school or being a freshman or whatever since i already know a lot of people at my school. i'm more worried that i haven't done enough to enjoy my summer or finish my summer reading assignment (don't blame me; the book is written by a pretentious hipster and it's unbelievably boring). i am kinda nervous about my math tho; i'm taking alg 2/trig and i am not looking forward to math with a bunch of annoying nerds who whine about getting an A- on a test while i have no idea what's going on.

also is anyone here on one of their school sports teams? i'm on the roster for 6th period soccer, but we haven't had the official tryouts yet so idk what team i'm gonna be on. any advice??

i'm ashamed to say i'm kinda this type of person in math class. ;-; my parents expect me to get A's in everything, esp. when it comes to math bc math is probably my best subject (i take/used to take a bunch of out-of-school math classes) so i expect that of myself too and when i get A-'s, i don't start sobbing or anything, but i just sigh and i'm sad for the day. don't kill me
anyway, i start eighth grade on august 11. aka this tuesday. help me i hate the people in my grade

haha no that's fine! the people in my class last year would actually complain nonstop that "i got a 92!! this is tHE WORST GRADE EVER!!!1!" or that they missed the extra credit question on the test and "only got 100 percent instead of 105". and you know, it's totally fine to hold yourself to a high standard, i completely understand. i'd be pretty disappointed too if i cared as much about math as you or some of my classmates do. but it's just really inconsiderate to be complaining out loud about a good grade when there are people like me who got C's and B's most of the time, b/c it makes those people feel even worse about their grades.

also good luck with eight grade! i had a lot of fun in eighth grade last year, especially towards the end. where i live its the last year of middle school, idk about your school system.
